St. John’s Church Hall stood next to the church accessed by a gate in the side wall.
Social events – church teas and suppers – were held in the Church Hall. The Church ran the Scouts and Cubs, Girl Guides and later the Boys Club, all of which presumably met in the Church Hall. People’s recollections agree that, in order to attend the church youth club, young people would have to be members of the congregation.
There was also a Girls’ Friendly Society, organised by the wife of Canon Val Green. The Church Hall was demolished in 1966 due to it being unsafe. Later, on this site, Burnhope New Vicarage was built.
